Of course, there are plenty of activities one can do in Transylvania, ranging from visiting unique UNESCO World Heritage sites to tasting locally brewed beers. But did you know that during the past years, this area became one of the most important meet points for those looking forward to the best Eastern European Festivals? Well, each year, Transylvania is home to unique events, which is why we highly encourage you to check the following.
Sighisoara is an amazing medieval citadel that will make you feel like you’ve stepped in another world. And we can tell you from our experience that it is the go-to place in Transylvania for those looking forward to an authentic medieval festival. The Sighisoara Medieval Fest is organized each year in July, and it will mesmerize you due to the numerous women wearing medieval dresses, courageous knights roaming the streets of the city, and the medieval-era atmosphere.
One of the most expected events of the year is the TIFF. Usually organized in the heart of the city of Cluj, it takes place in around 20 locations spread around the city. An exciting thing about TIFF is that the event is also organized outdoor or in unconventional places. It is the first international film festival in Romania, and we can say that there are plenty of projections held during TIFF that are worth seeing and discovering.
Ranked as Europe’s best small festival in 2019, Jazz in the Park attracts plenty of tourists every year. Organized in the central park of Cluj, it gathers yearly several music and jazz enthusiasts. It is an interesting and welcoming event, as you can sit and enjoy both the performance and the stars in the sky.
Maybe one of the most popular and the most expected events in Transylvania in Untold. For several years now, the unique location in Cluj Arena attracts more and more music enthusiasts. And if you take the time to look at the lineup, you will most likely discover some impressive performers with worldwide hits. Untold Festival was awarded the Best Major European Festival prize, and we can say that it deserved it! Some of the artists that came to entertain the diverse crowds at Untold include David Guetta, Martin Garrix, The Script, and Steve Aoki.
And following the Untold Festival closely, Electric Castle offers to its attendees a unique setup in the five-century old Banffy Castle. For several years now, it welcomed everyone, including children and pets. Besides, the lineup is rather enticing, and you can listen here everything from hip-hop to indie rock.
